GM Partition Work in Baneshwor: Sadak Bibhag Project Using GM Metal Profile
Our latest GM partition work in Baneshwor at Sadak Bibhag shows how a strong steel frame makes interior walls faster to build, cleaner and longer lasting. For this project we used GM Metal Profile, the zinc-coated steel framing system from GM Gypsum, to build partition walls across a large commercial building. This article covers what we did, how we did it and why metal framing is a smart choice for offices and commercial spaces in Kathmandu.
Project Overview: Partition Work at Sadak Bibhag, Baneshwor
Baneshwor is one of Kathmandu’s busiest commercial areas, with new offices, institutions and showrooms opening every year. At the Sadak Bibhag site, the building had open concrete floors on multiple levels. The client needed clean, fast and reliable interior partitions to divide the space into rooms.

Why We Chose GM Metal Profile for This Partition
Partition quality starts with the frame. Weak or rusting framing causes cracks, uneven walls and costly repairs later. The GM Metal Profile range is made from galvanized steel with a 120 GSM zinc coating, which protects against corrosion and keeps walls straight for years.
Key reasons we used it on this project:
- High corrosion resistance: The zinc coating protects the steel in Nepal’s humid monsoon months.
- Precise manufacturing: Each bend and curve is formed accurately, so studs and tracks fit together with fewer errors.
- Lightweight but strong: Steel studs are easy to carry up to upper floors and put little load on the building.
- Straight, even walls: Metal does not warp, shrink or twist the way timber can.
- Fast installation: Metal framing goes up much faster than brick or block walls.

How the GM Partition Was Built, Step by Step
1. Site marking and layout
Our team first marked the exact wall lines on the concrete floor. Accurate layout lines are the foundation of a straight partition, and you can see them clearly on the floor in our site footage.
2. Fixing the floor and ceiling tracks
Metal tracks were fixed to the floor and the slab above, defining the wall’s position and height.
3. Installing vertical studs
Galvanized studs were placed upright at regular spacing and secured into the tracks. Spacing was checked for strength and a flat board finish.
4. Checking alignment
Every wall line was checked for plumb and level before moving on. Correcting errors at the frame stage saves time and money later.
5. Boarding and finishing
Once the frame is approved, gypsum boards are fixed with GM Screws, joints are covered with GM Fibre Tape, and the wall is plastered and painted. [Update this step to match what was done on site.]
Benefits of Metal Frame Partition Over Brick Walls
If you are planning an office or commercial fit-out in Kathmandu, here is why a gypsum partition on a metal frame often beats brick or block:
- Faster completion: Dry construction means no curing time.
- Lower structural load: Important for upper floors.
- Cleaner site: Less dust, water and debris.
- Easy changes: Rooms can be modified later without heavy demolition.
- Space for services: Wiring, plumbing and insulation fit inside the wall cavity.
- Better finish: Smooth, flat walls ready for paint.
